Want to get better at puzzle games? They reward patience more than speed. These five habits work in most of them, from Candy Match to Star Blocks.
1. Read the whole board first
Before your first move, take a few seconds to scan the board. Look for the pieces that are hardest to reach. They usually decide whether you finish the level.
2. Work from the bottom up
In games where pieces fall, moves near the bottom shift everything above them. That creates chain reactions you did not have to plan.
3. Think two moves ahead
Ask what the board will look like after your move, not just whether the move scores. A small match that sets up a bigger one is often the better choice.
4. Replay levels you have already passed
Going back to an easy level with no pressure helps you notice patterns you missed the first time.
5. Stop when you are stuck
If you have failed the same level several times in a row, close the game and come back later. A fresh look solves more puzzles than one more try.
